Two days conference was organized by the Dept. of Prosthodontics at VSPM Dental College and Research Centre on ‘Maxillofacial Prostheses – Building competencies to enhance outcomes’ on 16th and 17th February 2019 in collaboration with the IPS Nagpur branch. The conference received huge response from postgraduate students in Prosthodontics from all over India. The 2 days conference included one day hands-on workshops in fabrication of orbital and auricular prostheses in which the post graduate students were given hands on training in fabricating these prostheses. The mentors for the hands-on workshops were Dr. Satyabodh Guttal from SDM Dental College, Dharwad and Dr. Manju V, from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi respectively. They were joined by Dr. Saumyendra Singh from KGMC, Lucknow the next day for lectures. The highlight of the lecture series was a live talk by Dr. Mahmoud Elbashti from Tokyo Medical University, Japan who addressed the gathering on ‘Digitalization in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics’. Postgraduate students presented scientific papers in the afternoon session and the best papers were awarded with certificates to motivate the students.

Dean, VSPM DCRC, Dr. Usha Radke, Organizing Chairman, welcomed all the delegates and addressed the students regarding the significance of Prosthetic rehabilitation for patients who have lost some or all teeth and maxillofacial structures due to cancer, developmental anomalies or trauma. On the occasion a conference souvenir was released depicting the PG students’ as well as faculty abstracts and conference proceedings of Prosthocon -2019. Dr. Neelam Pande, was the Organizing Secretary and Dr. Saee Deshmukh Dr. Rajlakshmi Banerjee were the scientific conveners for the conference. Dr. Tushar Mowade, Dr. Anuj Chandak, Dr Suryakant Deogade, Dr Yogesh Ingole Dr. Jayshree Joshi, Dr. Akhil Rathi, Dr. Priti Jaiswal, Dr. Shraddha Sahni, Dr. Rupesh Vaidya, Dr. Jaishree Chahande and Dr. Anita Kahar contributed for the successful organization of the programme.
